Showered with Love

Yesterday we threw a bridal shower for my friend who's getting married in October. It was so much fun preparing and we had a blast hosting. My mom out did herself on the food! She always serves enough to feed an army! The treats were especially sweet. My mom made a bride doll cake and I worked feverishly on cake pops. I love how they turned out.

Dress: Anthropologie; Shoes: Vince Camuto via Macy's;
Necklace: Tori Spelling via HSN; Rings: House of Harlow 1960 via Gilt;
Bangles: Jessica Simpson

I don't love how this turned out! At first I loved this creation and then I saw myself in photos! Not happy with the outcome at all, but I wanted to post so you could see styling attempt number one. I will definitely be thinking of ways to change up this look and make it look a lot more flattering. I feel like I look so much bigger than I actually am through the bodice! A belt will definitely help manage the bulk, but it's finding the right balance in belt width. This look to me is just horrible!!

I LOVE the print and design of the dress though. The little birds are darling and I love that they are beak to beak. I'm really into birds (seen here and here). The soft hue of the dress is so refreshing. I've been wearing some loud colors lately so this is nice change of pace. And I loved how the dress swept behind me. I did find myself stepping on it from time to time, but I loved the grand gesture it made as I left a room!

Here are two additional rings from the five stack from House of Harlow 1960. I paired the rose gold and bright gold for a bit of funk. I thought it was a nice mix with the chunky necklace and interlocking bangles.

I went shoe shopping on Saturday, twice, and came home with these darlings! So different than anything I have currently in my wardrobe. I love the multi-strap around the ankle, the zipper up the back and the mix of pink, blue and cream in the snake skin. So neutral that they truly can be worn with just about anything. Look for them in posts to come!

Have you ever had an outfit that you felt good about only to find it looked disastrious! Had I had my full length mirror, I would have changed. Actually, I couldn't have because I took everything to my mom's and dressed there. We all learn from our fashion mistakes! Next time this will be fabulous!

I know this blog is about style and fashion, but I just love the cake pops. You did a great job and I am sure the party was a great success!
