Style My Way.
I’ve been obsessed with fashion since I learned the words “layaway” at the age of 13! All babysitting money and allowances went to my favorite retailers. I’ve been a stylist since the age of 14 when I started styling my friends in my clothes and taking photos of them while we played "fashion show". I even went so far as to lay out the acceptable clothes for my mom to wear when we went out together. You can say that fashion has been in my blood since birth!
I worked the retail circuit in college and after. My senior year in college, I had a professor ask me why I hadn’t thought to major in fashion merchandising. That was a thing? Had I known, I would have definitely gone that route. Instead, I earned my degree in fashion by working with the best. I also studied my bibles, Instyle and Lucky Magazines, to get the education I needed regarding designers, must-haves, staples, and trends. I’ve worked hard to continue my education by watching The Rachel Zoe Project, meeting mentors like Clinton Kelly and Tim Gunn, and watching Fashion Police on E!. Over time I’ve earned, what I think, is a Master’s Degree in Fashion.
I started Style My Way in 2009 after attending the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity exhibit. This costume exhibit explored women’s fashion between 1890 and 1940, setting in motion the evolution of “today’s American woman.” The takeaway: How far have we as women removed ourselves from the ability to dress? I felt at the time, and still do, that women have moved away from elegance and sophistication when getting dressed on a daily basis.
In the beginning, my posts were about what I thought women should wear, but decided to take it one step further. Style My Way eventually evolved into a personal style blog where I catalog my daily almost daily, outfits. I want to show my readers how they too can still be stylish while running errands, stopping for coffee, or sitting in the carpool lane. Today, I’m an over 40 mom who no longer works in corporate America, but I still try to dress with a touch of elegance and sophistication. It may be a statement necklace with boyfriend jeans and sneakers or a ruby red lip with cutoff shorts and a graphic tee. Whatever the case, I'd love for you to stop by daily to see what I’ve styled for the day and hopefully it will leave you inspired!
In addition to personal style posts, you will also find DIY projects, beauty posts, styling tips, home décor ideas, and more! Want to work together- That would be great! I’m a personal stylist, wardrobe consultant, and home stager. Simply send me a note to andreakrasnow{at}gmail{dot}com. I would love to hear from you! There are so many ways to live in style and it’s always about Style My Way!
XO,
Andrea
