Style My Way - Trend Alert

Last January I blogged about neon and how popular it was going to be for spring 2012. Well, here we are on the verge of summer 2013 and it's just as hot as it was a year ago! I love neon! I have since the 80s. So I thought I would share with all of you some of my picks for summer. You can go little or big! It's completely up to you. I personally think accessories are key, but I do have a day-glow pink dress that I swear you can see from space! (Blog post to come for sure!)

This cross-body bag from Cambridge Satchel Company was on the list in 2012 and is still a piece I would love to add to my handbag collection. I've said it before, I'm normally not such a pink girl, but this bubble gum color is calling my name!

These pieces from Ann Taylor are a great way to add color without feeling like you're going overboard! And, I love the mix of snow white. It really makes the yellow pop.

Another great accessory is shoes and these flats don't disappoint. Remember Jelly shoes? If you were a child of the 80s you do. The Kate Spade's on the left are a great upgrade to those I bought at Venture so long ago. The Coconuts on the right are a great little fabric flat and on trend with the pointed toe.

Another great way of adding neon, without feeling overwhelmed by color, is to dress up your high tech pieces. The tablet case from Marc Jacobs is super cute and the iPhone case from Kate Spade is sumblimely happy!

I just purchased this wristlet today! A piece from the Milly Collection at Banana Republic, it has the metallic trend with a hint of neon on the zipper!

And for those of you who want to go all out neon, below are three pieces that will make your closet zing! The dress from Michael Kors is a simple sheath in daring hot pink. The Equipment blouse is all you need when equipped....see what I did there....with the right skinny jean.

 And nothing says shocking like these hot pink chinos from J.Crew Factory! They will definitely give your legs a jolt!

Lastly, with it raining like cats and dogs this week, I'm loving my Hunters for protection. I live in my black pair, but would LOVE to expand the color pallette and include these! They aren't necessarily neon, but oh how bright they are! Have I mentioned that red is my favorite color?

 So, is neon your new favorite color for summer? When paired with white and black, you really can't go wrong! Is this a trend you're going to try or do you already have a closet full? Let's discuss!

Happy Shopping!

Jumping Into the 40s

Jumpsuit: Anthropologie; Shoes: Tory Burch; Bangles: Silpada/Millsaps;
Necklace: Tiffany

I absolutely love this jumpsuit! I remember the day I got it and it has been a favorite ever since! I love that it has a 1940s feel while still staying current. There isn't much I would change when styling it, expect changing out accessories. The self-belt doesn't need to be removed as it really ties the whole thing together. Fun, colorful shoes and an arm load of bangles is all I needed. Oh, and a really deep, red lip!

I continue to state that a jumpsuit is the easiest piece you can add to your closet! It's a complete outfit the minute you put it on. No fuss, no muss!

Aside from the styling, you can see I was thinner the last time I wore it! Hoping the Weight Watcher plan pays off!

Highlight on Lilly Pulitzer

The other day I blogged about a little designer by the name of Lilly Pulitzer. So, instead of simply referencing, I thought I would do a little blog post about the cute looks of Lilly! Like I said before, I've been a fan for years! I've owned everything from dresses to shoes and I've loved them all. They're the epitome of feminine, a little flirty and the perfect summer wardrobe must-have!

Below are some of my favorites from their newest collection!

I think this is by far my favorite piece!

I am loving these wedges!!!

McQueen

Jacket: Zara; Tank: McQueen via Gilt; Jeans: Ann Taylor; Shoes: Burberry Prorsum via Shopbop;
Sunnies: MARC by Marc Jacobs; Earrings/Bracelets: Silpada;

I am finally wearing my McQueen tank that I purchased from Gilt last season. I hadn't worn until now for fear it would be too tight! (It just seemed liked it would be super fitted). Well, it's fitted but in all the right places. It slims my waistline and glides over the body. I love a tank that can do that!! I just hate I never took my jacket off. However, summer has just begun and this little guy will be making appearances all season long!

A Little Lilly P

Sweater: Ann Taylor; Tank: LOFT; Jeans: Ann Taylor; Sandals: Pour la Victoire via Gilt;
Sunnies: Prada (gift); Bracelet: J.Crew; Necklace: Lord & Taylor/Ann Taylor; Watch: Emporio Armani (similar)

When I put this outfit on, I immediately referenced Lilly Pulitzer. Lilly Pulitzer is known for preppy looks, in all shades of pastels, but especially for the mint green/pink combination. I have been a fan for years so it's no wonder I was drawn to these colors when getting dressed.

I love this new sweater! A gift for Mother's Day from my parents, yes they give me Mother's Day gifts, I love how light weight it is. Perfect for nights when there's a bit of a chill or the office when the air conditioning is on full blast! And those pink stripes are so bright and cheerful!

Floral & Turquoise

Top: Forever 21; Tank: LOFT; Shorts: LOFT; Sandals: Target; Sunnies: Prada;

This top has been in my wardrobe since the summer of 2010 and I have no plans to rid myself of it! I don't know what it is about the top, but I love it! It's really comfortable, light weight for the hot summer months, super feminine and so cheerful! I guess those are all good reasons to keep it, right?

I was trying to figure out what to wear on Sunday. I was going to spend the morning grocery shopping and we had talked about going to the zoo that afternoon. I needed something that would get me through the entire day and keep me comfy yet pulled together. I grabbed numerous pairs of shorts, crossing my fingers that they would fit, and found this pair I didn't remember having! I love the rich turqouise, however they don't look great against my Casper legs! When digging around for a top, I found this floral one and the colors were perfect! Cute sandals, delicate hoops and sunnies and I was set.

Turns out the grocery store was the only place I went on Sunday! Naptime took over the afternoon so we spent the day, with the help of my parents, getting the garden started! That look was never captured! HA!
