The "It" Shoes for Spring

You know how much I love shoes, right? So when new styles pop up every year, I love tackling the latest trends! This spring season is no exception. There are three trends on my radar and I can't wait to add them to my ever expanding shoe collection!

The New Mule
Remember the old mule? It was clunky and awkward and made tons of noise when you walked. The "new" mule is reminiscent of the old but has a sleeker heel and is so much more sophisticated then it's predecessor. I have my eye on these from Piperlime! The one on the left is from Vince and I love the chunky heel! So playful and perfect for almost every look! The one on the right is from Pour la Victoire and it's a tad more dressy but still something you could wear with everyday!

The D'Orsay Flat
This flat is darling and I've already purchased a pair! It's a cross between a sandal and a flat and can be worn with everything from dresses to shorts to boyfriend jeans! I purchased these from Nordstrom and my mom got the same shoe but in fuchsia and black. So cute!

The little strap on these from Sole Society makes it absolutely adorable! I love the mix of patent leather and suede and I would wear these all the time!

These flats from Sam Edelman are perfect in metallic silver! I truly believe that metallic silver is a great neutral and can be worn as easily as we wear black. So versatile.

The Slip-On Sneaker
Anyone out there remember the original Vans? Anyone? Well I do and I always wanted a pair. You know, the white and black checkerboard version. Today's slip-on version comes from almost every designer and in almost every color and texture. The ones on the left are the newest style from Vans. Can't have the original? Go for the new! The ones on the right are from Tory Burch and I love the perforated fabric. (PS, perforated anything is so on trend for spring!)

I am so excited for spring. Actually, I've never been this excited. I'm over winter, which is still running rampant in these parts, and can't wait to start wearing bright colors, floral fabrics, and some of these new styles of shoes! Any of them strike your fancy?

A Broken Rule

Jacket: INC via Macy's; T-Neck: Ann Taylor; Jeans: LOFT; Booties: Rebecca Minkoff;
Shades: MARC by Marc Jacobs; Necklaces: Jane Basch/Silpada; Lip Color: MAC Ruby Woo

What rule is that, you ask? I am wearing white before Easter! I figured since this was a leather jacket, and not a white skirt or pant or shoe (which I would never rarely wear), I was okay in wearing white a little early! The black and white trend is still incredible hot for spring and I am completely on board. Why you ask? See examples 1/2/3/4.

Also, I'm testing out a new lip color for spring and summer. I love my MAC Dark Side, but it's a little too dark for those upcoming months. I decided to go with the ever popular Ruby Woo. And, it's that bright pop I need to get me through the rest of this dreary winter weather!

Twice As Nice

Jacket: Banana Republic (old/similar); Sweater: Ann Taylor (on sale); Jeans: LOFT;
Sneakers: Converse via DSW; Handbag: J.Crew (gift); Shades: Prada; Earrings: Silpada

I loved this look so much I wore it two days in a row! It was comfortable for starters, warm with the cashmere sweater and layered jacket, and chic enough to run errands while still feeling a little casual. I just threw on some comfy sneaks, shades to hide the mascara only eyes, and a little lipgloss for color. This is what I call an awesome weekend look!

Inspired by a Red Skirt

  I have become obsessed with finding a red skirt after I saw this darling look from Hallie Daily on Pinterest!

And as I explored Pinterest, I found these amazing looks from Blaire over at Atlantic Pacific.

I love this concept from Kendi over at Kendi Everyday! I have my fair share striped tops, but there is no way I could pull off the knee-socks and tall boots. She's way cooler than I am!

I've worn several different versions of a red skirt here, here, and here, but I'm really in the mood for a longer version. I have a red version of this black one on order and I can't wait to style it well into summer! Thankful for bloggers and Pinterest for fueling my creative side and obsessive shopping!

This is What I Wore

Jacket: Levi's; T-Neck: Bitten by SJP; Dress: Anthropologie; Tights: We Love Colors;
Booties: Rebecca Minkoff; Belt: Ann Taylor; Necklace: Pottery Barn Kids (gift);
Bracelets: Silpada/Millsaps; Earrings: Silpada; Shades: MARC by Marc Jacobs;
Lip Color: NARS Shanghai Express

This outfit created quite the stir among me and my mom. Apparently, this isn't one of her favorite looks of mine and she let me know immediately. I, however, like it. If I didn't, I wouldn't have worn it.

When I first saw this dress, I knew that it would be a now and then piece. A dress I could wear now layered with a tights and jackets. A dress I could wear later in the summer with sandals and a light jacket when needed.

So I'm leaving it up to you guys. What do you think? Like it? Hate it? Let's chat!

Take Two

Sweater: Anthropologie (old); T-Neck: Ann Taylor; Jeans: LOFT; Boots: Ivanka Trump;
Shades: Prada (gift)

After we got home from the horrible musical Saturday afternoon, we did a quick change before heading over to my parents house to celebrate my mom's birthday. I was freezing and decided to grab a heavy sweater instead of this scarf I was going to add to the t-neck I sported earlier in the day.

I am huge fan of this look! A little laid back but it felt a little dressed up, even with boyfriend jeans and motorcycle boots, and I stayed warm for the rest of the day!

Day Date

Coat: J.Crew (gift/old); T-Neck: Ann Taylor; Skirt: Joe Fresh via J.C.Penney; Tights: We Love Colors; Booties: Marc Fisher (won); Necklace: Tori Spelling via HSN; Clutch: Mark & Graham (gift);
Lip Color: MAC Dark Side

Saturday afternoon was a day date with my hubby! We went to see Bring it On the Musical. We had drinks before the show, chatted about adult things, admired the view of our downtown skyline, and left at intermission! What a bust of a show, but that's for a different blog post.

I really agonized over what to wear and I'm not really sure why. I literally tried on three different tops with this one skirt, with a few other pieces thrown in, and finally decided to go with black, on black, on black. Slimming and chic. Who doesn't love need that!
