You're Not Seeing Double

No, you aren't seeing double! I'm wearing the same shirt and hat from yesterday's post! And no, I'm not wearing the same thing two days in a row, though I've been known to do that, yesterday's look was from last Tuesday. I wore this yesterday and I'm not afraid to show you how often I repeat pieces! I repeat them a lot, as seen by my Before and After pics, and that's just what a good working closet should do for you, work! 

McKinley and I went to the zoo yesterday and it was a little on the cool side. The windy was blustery at times and I'm so glad I brought along my trusty denim jacket! I've been wanting to pair this jumpsuit with a tee, just to see how it would look, and I have to say I love it! I'm not sure any other top would work so I may just leave it at this!

One of the biggest statements I hear from my readers is "I can't afford to shop." And I'm here to tell you, yes you can! I will admit that I have a lot of designer pieces in my wardrobe, but I also have a lot of inexpensive pieces as well. You just don't always know they're inexpensive because it's all in how you style them!

Take this skirt of instance. Are you sitting down? I got this skirt over the summer at Dollar General! That's right, Dollar General. It's by designer Bobbie Brooks and it cost $13! And in my opinion, it doesn't look $13 and it doesn't look like it came from Dollar General. I paired it with a merino wool t-neck from Ann Taylor, a Levi's denim jacket, and suede Rockport boots. Layered necklaces and loads of bracelets complete this affordable look!

 

Aztec prints are really trendy right now, but if it's not a trend you really want to invest in, this is a great way of doing so. Picking up a trend from a lower end retailer makes you feel stylish without feeling guilty! I love this skirt and can't wait to pair it with chunky sweaters for the winter or my moto leather jacket for a little edge!

Sorry I'm not sorry that I'm wearing these pants again! And if I'm being honest, I wore them two days in a row! Seriously, like I said before, these pants rock!!

This time around I went with a more comfortable approach. I am loving this Holy Chic tee and I love it more paired with the pants. The denim jacket was my dad's in the 70s and it's perfect with the overall look! Tennies, aviators, and red lips complete this laid back look. If you don't have a pair of these pants yet, what are you waiting for.....

A quick shout out to Pointer! The jacket was manufactured in my hometown of Bristol, Tennessee! Gotta love shopping local, even back in 1970! Go Dad!!

Seriously, These Pants Rock!

I spent Sunday afternoon with my fam at World's of Fun and we had the best day! It was warm, but not too warm, and the amusement park felt like it was all ours! Seriously, I have never experienced a time when there weren't loads of people in line to ride rides! McKinley was able to ride almost everything back to back. It was perfect!

I spent the evening with my girlfriend Caitlin, of Gussied Up, to take blog pics, have dinner, and catch up. I haven't had a night like that in a long time and it felt so good to be in the company of such a fab gal!! Seriously, she rocks! And speaking of rocking, these pants are rocking my world! You know how I feel about wearing workout gear, especially yoga pants, in public. Well, these jogging pants are definitely not something I plan to wear to the gym, but they are definitely going to be on repeat throughout fall!

These amazing pants are incredible! They are cotton, with faux leather panels in the front. and they have a drawstring elastic waist! They are the most comfortable things I've worn in ages! Seriously, these pants rock!

Because the pants are so casual, I mean they are called a jogging pant, I dolled them up with funky heels, junky jewels, and my staple denim jacket! I can't wait to style them in so many different ways!

If I'm Being Honest...

A day of what was supposed to be running errands turned into a day where my son got up before 6:00, attended the morning session of preschool, came home for lunch, had a cup of milk, and took a two and a half hour nap. And if I'm being honest, I did too! Eventually, we both woke up, headed to the grocery store, and had some playtime in the early evening with Dada. I can't think of a better piece than this romper to get me through such a stressful day! HA! Oh, and the little jacket was to ward off the chill in the grocery store.

Can you believe that we are going from shorts to possibly jeans and layers this weekend? I'm kind of excited and kind of bummed! Could make for some cute transition looks...

 I have always been a huge fan of late 60s fashion. Shift dresses, bell bottoms, A-Line skirts, bold florals, and jumpsuits. Seriously, if I were a part of that fashionable period, I'm pretty sure I would have rocked it out daily! Lately, I've been pulling out my bold florals and loving every loud moment! My mom and I purchased this fabric at least three years ago and have been dying so fearful of cutting it! We knew we wanted to make this skirt with the fabric, but we were so unsure of how to lay out the fabric, as well as laying the pattern out, in case the flowers and stems never met up. Finally, my mom said "just cut it" and I did! The floral pattern couldn't have matched up any better!!

I couldn't be more in love with this skirt than I already am! I received so many compliments from random strangers when I wore it which made the skirt mean even more. No one could believe we made it! They thought it was vintage, an amazing compliment, and loved how I styled the whole look. If only I could have worn this decades ago!

Casual Dress

As I typed last Friday's post regarding being on the hunt for casual dresses, I decided to pull this one out. I feel like it's harder to re-style because it's black and white and a maxi dress. Not much that can be mixed up here. 

This time around I ditched the self-belt and added my neon yellow version and I think it helped brighten it up. I reached for my cropped denim jacket and leather flip flops for a more casual look. I definitely will keep this dress in the rotation for summer!
