Saturday Night Bingo

Cape: Laura Kathleen (similar); Sweater: Ann Taylor; Jeans: LOFT;
Boots: Steven by Steve Madden (similar); Handbag: Steven by Steve Madden;
Necklace: Tori Spelling; Rings: Gorjana

Last weekend I attended a birthday celebration for a sweet friend at Hamburger Mary's. I had never been and was dying to go! It was everything I thought it would be and so much more. Bingo, great apps, meeting new people, catching up with old friends, and a fabulous Drag Queen who was gorgeous and incredibly entertaining. I can't wait to take the hubby!

It was a rainy, dreary day and I wasn't really sure what to wear. So glad I opted for skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots. Then I remembered my Laura Kathleen cape, a perfect piece to combat the rain while looking chic at the same time.

I also applied my first smokey eye for the evening! A beauty how-to post coming later this week! Stay tuned!

A Holiday Program - Festive Wear

Jacket: Pendleton (gift/similar); T-Neck: French Connection (similar); Jeans: Loft;
Boots: Sole Society (similar); Necklaces: Talbots/J.Crew (similar); Bracelets: J.Crew;
Ring: Etiquette Boutique

Yesterday we attended McKinley's first holiday program and I couldn't help but beam with pride! The whole school sang a mix of Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs and they sang with gusto! McKinley was so attentive, an active participant, and according to another mom, he knew every word. Being an active theater participant myself, I could be a stage mom in the works!

 Because it was a holiday program, I wanted to look festive without looking Christmasy. I wanted to be chic without trying too hard. I originally thought of wearing red, but thought that seemed to obvious. Instead, I went with this deep green jacket. Skinny jeans, tall boots (it snowed overnight), and a fun statement necklace are my definite go-to's these days when wanting to look a little more pulled together.

Between the children's chorus of carols, and this amazing green jacket, I was totally in the Christmas spirit! This time of year can leave us frazzled and that 30 minutes was all I needed to help calm my nerves!

What do you do take your look up a notch during the holiday season? Do you go subtle or all out in color? I can't believe this is our last weekend before the big day. Take a deep breath, let it out, and get a little dolled up!

Happy Friday, Fashionista's!

Sting Like a Bee

Top: Kate Spade; Blazer: LOFT; Jeans: LOFT (on sale); Heels: French Connection (on sale);
 Belt: J.Crew; Necklaces: The Zoe Collective/Stella & Dot

Remember last Monday when it was in the mid 60s and you could run around town in just a 3/4 sleeve blazer with a sleeveless top underneath? And you sat outside for over two years so your son could watch the crane trucks put up a Christmas tree in the middle of Crown Center? And then you went to dinner with your girlfriend and took pics and it was still in the upper 60s? I remember it like it was a month ago because it's been freezing since last Tuesday!!

So now you know I wore this darling bee top with a cute blazer and skinny jeans for the day. During the day I sported flats because I just can't do heels with a three year old. I only wish I was as cool as Rachel Zoe and could pull it off with as much ease as her. I simply can't! I switched them out for cute (new) heels for evening because I am cool enough to rock that look for evening!

Also, do you remember that time the aforementioned girlfriend told you how thin you looked? I do! I've lost six pounds, and like any good super model or celebrity would tell you, I didn't do anything do it! Don't you just love those answers.....

Hope you're starting off your week with a fashionable bang!
XOXO

Finally

Jacket: Banana Republic; Sweater: J.Crew (similar); Tank: Banana Republic;
Jeans: LOFT; Flats: Tory Burch; Scarf: LOFT; Handbag: MICHAEL Michael Kors (gift/similar);
Shades: MARC by Marc Jacobs; Lip Color: Laura Geller Beauty Watermelon Cooler

I can't tell you how many times I've worn this look and never been able to capture a photo. I finally was able to get this on "film" last weekend. I usually pair the sweater and scarf with boyfriend jeans, but decided to dress it up a bit with skinnies. I added the light leather jacket because of a slight chilly in the morning. I didn't need it by the afternoon.

Remember my handbag "On the Hunt" post several weeks ago, if not a month ago? I got this little number as an early Easter gift from my mom! I LOVE IT!! The color is so rich and vibrant and I love all the accents! I must have known to wait on the outfit pics so I could pair it with this bag.

First Fridays - What to Wear?

 Today is the first Friday in May which means it's First Fridays in the Crossroads District. Here in Kansas City, First Fridays is an evening where art galleries, retailers and other participating venues showcase local artists and their work. My dad will be showing a couple of pieces of photography this evening, along with other students from his photography class, and I can't wait to attend his first showing! This is a huge deal!

And, because it's a night out in a really cool part of the city, I have to look the part! However, Mother Nature is so not cooperating with it being the third of May! It is in the high 30s/low 40s today and there is a dusting of snow on the ground! I'm not going to let that stop me though! I will try to keep an air of spring while trying to stay warm. I have pulled together three looks that I'm thinking of wearing. Take a look below to see what I've got in mind.

Look Number One

I ordered this dress months ago from Piperlime and it arrived earlier in the week! When I tried it on for Joel he told me he thought it was fancy, which I guess it is, but I see it being a dress you can wear for any event. Like First Fridays! I love the vibrant orange and Equestrian print. And the all over according pleat makes it so unique.

I have come up with two ways of styling the dress and I love both! Actually, the only thing that changes is the jacket! With either the cream leather or denim jacket, tall Equestrian boots and bronze accessories this dress will stay the focal point.

Look Number Two

My second look is a little darker and a little more laid back. I wish this had photographed exactly how royal blue the jacket is, but trust me, it's royal! And amazing! A gift from my mom, I've worn it a handful of times over the latter part of winter and will continue to wear it in the spring.

For tonight, I would pair it with a thin, black tee, skinny jeans and my peep toe, ankle booties. A chunky black necklace and fun clutch complete the city vibe of this look!

 Look Number Three

While I was planning the above looks, this shows up in the mail! I ordered this dreamy jumpsuit from Anthropologie on Tuesday and its on my doorstep on Friday. Good work, Anthropologie! I quickly took photos, couldn't get it to hang right, and will pair it with the denim collection I have planned with the dress. I couldn't have styled it any better!

Any thoughts on the looks I've styled? Does one stand out more than the others? First Friday's appropriate or just trying too hard?

Happy Friday!!XOXO
