Basket of Hearts

Jacket: Banana Republic (similar); Sweater: Talbot's (gift); Pants:
Ann Taylor (similar/on major sale); Flats: J.Crew;  Tote/Jewelry: Stella & Dot;
 Lip Color: Revlon HD Obsession

Obviously yesterday was Valentine's Day, and if you're someone like me, you dress for the day of love! I always have. But yesterday was a little more special. I worked a vendor booth at a wedding expo and it was truly filled with love! Brides and grooms galore. Mothers of the Bride, bridal parties, and even flower girls were in attendance. You couldn't help but feel the love all around!

Remember when I blogged about my Valentine's Day picks? Well my sweet aunt got me the sweater that was on my list! Isn't it the sweetest? And it was the perfect thing to wear to a bridal expo. I mean, it's a basket full of hearts! I did struggle with how to style the sweater. Then I remembered my beloved red pants that I literally lived in for about a year or more. A neutral leather jacket (which was a saving grace from the air that blasted throughout the convention center) and nude flats were the perfect compliments to the bold red and pink. As for my bag, a girl needs an awesome tote when carrying all her belongings and this Stella & Dot version is fabulous!

How was your Valentine's Day? Was it filled with love and joy? I sure hope it was!

McKinley is off from school today so not sure what the day will bring. I'm hoping something fun will be in the air. Or at least a nap!

Happy Monday!
XOXO

Wednesday Wants - Valentine's Day Finds

As it currently stands, I am a hopeless romantic. I love romantic comedies, Danielle Steele and Nicolas Sparks novels, entire Twilight Saga for obvious reasons, and though I'm not a daily heart wearer, I do love to sport them during February in honor of Valentine's Day! Red is my favorite color, but I've been adding pink to the mix, and this month is the best reason to wear those colors often! And I love adding lips to the mix. A fun print that's a little wink, you know!

However, I've been on the hunt for some extra cute pieces for Valentine's Day and I found some of the most darling things! And I'm sharing them with you. I am especially in love with the Talbot's sweater! It's so sweet!

When it comes to Valentine's Day, what is typically on your wishlist? Flowers? Chocolate? Diamonds? For this girl, chocolate is always in the list. Sometimes roses because I never get them, but they are entirely too costly for just one day. As for this year, I will take any of the above!
Maybe you should start sharing your wishlist with your special someone now! And, if you're a girl who loves to simply shop for yourself, well you are a girl after my own heart....

Happy Wednesday, Lovelies!

I Heart Circles - Mixing Prints

Sweater: Target: Top: J.Crew (gift); Boyfriend Jeans: Ann Taylor (similar);
Booties: Rebecca Minkoff (similar); Scarf: Gift (similar); Shades: MbMJ;
Lip Color: Chanel 40 La Sensuelle

I'm trying to get a little more creative with my wardrobe and styling things in ways I wouldn't normally. I think it's part of the challenge of being a style blogger. It's not just about staying current, but about reinventing your wardrobe and thinking outside the wardrobe box....or closet. I've been wanting to wear this heart print top for a while now, but I couldn't think of ways to style it without looking exactly like the other ways I've worn it. Then it came to me like a vision. Wear it under my J'Adore sweater. Get it? Love and hearts?

But then I started thinking about how I could mix it up. Add a circle print scarf! I went back and forth between the one I'm wearing and this one, but I really liked the more dynamic print of this scarf. And I simply "heart" how these two prints came together.

Other ways I've styled the scarf.

I wanted to give you the option of seeing the heart top mixed with the graphic sweater. Still mixing prints, just in a more subtle way.

Styling Tip: This is a great way to start playing around with mixed prints if you've been hesitant on how to style.

I'm really curious how the whole thing would look with this scarf. Honestly, it's my favorite in the collection. Don't be afraid of playing around with mixing up your prints. It can truly amp up a look instantly. And, it's the best way to remix that wardrobe!

Happy Halloween Fashionistas!

Blues

Top: Land's End; Skirt: J.Crew Factory;
Tights: Hue; Shoes: Nine West via DSW;
Jewelry: Silpada

I wasn't really blue that day but boy was my look. I am in love with this pencil skirt and keep finding new ways to wear it. I know this looks vaguely familiar, the pairing that is, but I do have some other plans for mixing it up. If only the weather would cooperate! I need 40s not 60s!

Things I love about my new top. The tie-neck, which I seem to be collecting, the dots that almost look like little hearts, and the color combo. I'm loving navy and cobalt together. Instead of mixing it with black, I went for navy tights and my super colorful shoes. I wasn't sure if I looked too clownish, but decided to embrace the colors. If you're going to mix blues you might as well go all the way!

If you look closely, some resemble hearts!
