Tulip Team Up - A Derby Hat

I am so excited to be teaming up with Tulip this month! And with the Kentucky Derby taking place this weekend, what better time to talk about Derby Hats! Check out this amazing hat that Tulip gifted me for the shoot. I love it! It makes such a chic statement! I can literally see myself sipping Mint Juleps while watching those horses take off around the track. I've never been, but I'm totally armed with the perfect look for a day at the track.

I originally thought of styling the hat with a simple LBD, but for the Kentucky Derby, I needed something a little more playful. This Milly floral dress totally fit the bill. Paired with gold jewels and fuchsia pumps, this hat still stands out as the featured piece that it is.

And because there's always a big winner at the derby, Tulip is offering up a $25 gift card to shop! That's right! All you have to do is enter the raffle below and cross your fingers! It's that easy. I will email the winner on Monday!! Can't wait to share!

Good Luck!!

Grocery Store to Night

Top: JCPenney; Jeans: Ann Taylor (similar/on sale); Sandals: Lovely People (similar);
Shades: MbyMJ; Handbag: MbyMJ; Necklace: Rachel Marie Designs

This is what I wore the grocery store last weekend. That's right, the grocery store! A little Sunday run to Target warranted a cute look, no? Slip on a pair of silver heels like these and you can take this look straight into the evening. Okay, I'm not heading out on a Sunday night, but I would totally rock the heels, and this look, any other night of the week!

A Flair for the 70s

 Top: Anthropologie; Jeans: Seven for All Man Kind; Wedges: Anthropologie;
Handbag: MbyMJ; Necklaces: Rockbox/BaubleBar;
Shades: Prada; Earrings/Bracelet: Rachel Marie Designs

The 1970s is one of my favorite eras in fashion. The bell bottoms, the wedges, the fringe, and the long, flowy hair. And because of all of those style elements, it has stood the test of time. We still find that jeans come in flair leg, wedges have been refined but are just as prevalent, and fringe is back with a vengeance! As they say, if it ain't broke...

I love a good flair leg. Hell, I'll take a bell-bottom any day and I have two different pairs in my closet. I've had these for about ten years and I still love them. Remember, because the leg is so dramatic, try to be a little more conservative on top. You don't need overly baggy pieces. A flowy top like this one works, but so does a cute crop top! And make sure that the length goes almost to the ground! There is nothing worse than seeing a bell-bottom that comes to the ankle! It will shorten the appearance of your leg and no one wants that!!

I definitely want to pair these jeans with my BB Dakota jacket or my leather perforated tank! Definitely a jean that I'm looking forward to styling all spring and summer long!

Designer Series - Rachel Marie Designs

Today I'm bringing you a second in my designer series and I'm highlighting Rachel Marie Designs. Rachel Paga is a Michigan based jewelry designer who specializes in Swarovski crystal, gemstones, semi precious stones lead and nickle free pieces. Rachel began her jewelry career at the age of twelve stringing up bracelets made of plastic beads. Her mother owned a boutique and her entrepreneurial
spirit began at a young age! She asked if her mother would sell her jewelry in her store, but her mom thought it might not be a good fit. However, if Rachel were to start dabbling in crystals and freshwater pearls that her mom brought home, there might be a chance.

After Rachel worked to create a small collection, her mother set up a Trunk Show in her store, and Rachel sold $1000.00! All that hard work and persistence paid off. From there, Rachel has worked with several mentors to become the designer she is today and credits her mom as a constant help and encourager. And I'm so excited to show you some of her pieces today!

Rachel reached out to me last month in hopes of working together, and after reviewing her pieces on Instagram, I jumped at the chance. Her jewelry is so elegant yet so versatile. A true day to night jewelry line. I love the hints of sparkle and neutral gemstones used throughout. And the pieces are so lightweight! You don't feel the weight of a heavy earring yet it packs such a statement!

Throughout the week, you will see me styling her pieces with several different looks. It ranges from boyfriend jeans and sneakers to a sweet floral dress and heels. I could go from the grocery store to a wedding in each piece in the collection. Again, the versatility is what makes this designer so special! Another reason her pieces are so special? She is a strictly a boutique brand so you won't see yourself coming and going. I loving having pieces like that.

Without further ado, I bring you Rachel Marie Designs.

 Rachel's price points are totally within everyone's budget. They start as low as $18, but can go as high as $300. Truly something for everyone. My favorites? The earring and delicate bracelet. Definitely two pieces I would wear every day and might have while I had them in my possession!

You can find Rachel Marie Designs online, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. If you see something you are interested in, don't hesitate to reach out! You definitely need it in your own accessories collection! A perfect Mother's Day gift!!

Eyelet with an Edge

 Jacket: Rachel Zoe via Gilt (similar/20%off); Jumpsuit: Target (similar);
Wedges: Sole Society (c/o/similar)); Handbag: MbyMJ; Shades: Prada; Necklace: Tiffany (gift);
 Lip Color: Chanel Jean

Remember my Wednesday Wants post yesterday and how I wanted anything eyelet? Well guess what? I already had a super cute eyelet in my closet! I purchased this little number last season, actually after summer, from Gilt and packed it away for fall. I'm not one to wear white after Labor Day, you know! So you can imagine my surprise when I found it hanging in my closet earlier in the month!

I've actually already worn this ensemble but never took photos. It's like it didn't exist, right? McKinley and I visited the Deanna Rose Farmstead and this was the perfect look for a day with the animals. I wore these shoes the first time around, but decided to switch things up with a pair of wedges. I love the eyelet moto jacket paired with a jersey cotton jumpsuit. A casual piece gets a little punch with eyelet that has a little edge!

Isn't it great to find a wanted piece already hanging in your closet? It's like Christmas morning and your birthday all in one day! Okay, that might be stretching it a bit. Maybe it's more like finding a dollar in the back pocket of your jeans!

Hope you're having a fashionable week!

Wednesday Wants - Anything Eyelet

Do you remember eyelet from your childhood? It usually involved something super cutesy and a little girly. And it always seemed to come in white. Only white. Now a days, eyelet is all grown up and I want it all. It's not just simple little cutouts now. It's geometric, crocheted, large like doilies, and sheer enough to show a little a skin. It comes in mint, pink, bright yellow, and black. And I love it all!

I've ordered this skirt, and would love the matching top, but plan to pair it with this cute crop top. But I'm beyond obsessed with the navy vest and pant from Zara! Need it now! It would look amazing styled all summer long. Here are the eyelet pieces I'm wanting and loving!

1/2/3(vest/pant)/4/5

Okay, so the print is still pretty girly, but I love how edgy some of the pieces are. The romper is relaxed yet chic enough for a night out with heels. The white tee is great with distressed denim, but would look just as cute with a leather skirt. The shorts are no longer available, thank you Lilly for Target, and there are limited sizes in the eyelet set from Zara. I guess I'm not the only one on the eyelet train! Get on board, Fashionista's!

Current, Classic, Trendy....

 Sweater: Ralph Lauren (similar/on sale); Top: Boden (on sale); Jeans: Loft (similar);
Flats: J.Crew (fun option); Scarf: Piperlime (similar); Bangles: Gift/My Mom's; Shades: Prada

What is it about Monday's? I guess it's like The Bangles sang, "just another manic Monday." There was a lot going on in our house on Monday and I guess the same could be said about my look. We've got stripes, a multi-print scarf, and a cable knit sweater. And I love all of it!

At first, I thought this look was a little matronly. Like I truly looked like a mom, my mom, just throwing on a sweater before leaving the house. But on second glance it's nothing like that! Skinny jeans keep it current, stripes keep it classic, mixed prints keep it trendy, and a nautical sweater simply replaces a bulky jacket. Add ballet flats, fun bangles, and a berry lip to round it all out!

Saturday Morning Calm

 Top: Anthropologie (similar/various colors); Jeans: Loft (similar);
Sandals:  Camper (similar/limited sizes); Scarf: Boden (similar); Handbag: MbyMJ
Shades: Prada (similar); Bracelets: Silpada (similar); Ring: Silpada

Man has it been raining!! I know they say April showers bring May flowers, but at one point I thought we might need a boat as our mode of transportation! Saturday started off fairly calm. I planted the last of the vegetable seeds in the garden, some flowers in pots and little gardens around the patio, and simply enjoyed the songs of the birds all around me. It was so peaceful! Then the rains came again....

We headed out for a day of nothing really. Just needed to get out of the house. The rain had finally moved out, but the air was thick and heavy. Just look at my hair! It was large and in charge all day. I really wished I had taken a ponytail holder to help tame it. As for the look, I had a couple of things laid out, but kept coming back to this navy top. The sunny yellow accents helped cheer up the look, and the little birds on the scarf reminded me of my calmer morning of solitude. It just made sense to wear! And the yellow sandals, because why wouldn't I wear them!
