No Heat Monday

Sweater: Ann Taylor (old); T-Ncck: Ann Taylor; Jeans: LOFT; Boots: Sole Society;
Shades: MARC by Marc Jacobs
Yesterday, it was four degrees when I left the house. I came into work where there was no heat. I had to leave in the afternoon to take my son to the doctor where I was in and out of my car literally all afternoon, in the freezing temps, so I'm glad I was armed with my winter essentials. What are they, you ask? Wool, wool, knee-socks, and tall boots!

I haven't worn this sweater in about a year and yesterday was the perfect day for it! We came off a weekend of heavy snow and sleet so skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots were the only option. All that slush and ice in the parking lots is not the time for winter white and heels, no matter how much I want to wear them! As for wool on wool, it was the perfect combo for a day of no heat!

Happy Friday!!

It is currently snowing, AGAIN, and I just don't have it in me to blog about anything this week. I haven't taken one photo this week and that frustrates me to no end. We have over a foot of snow, have had two snow days and freezing temps. As a result, I've been living in jeans, comfy sweaters and boots. I had one look this week that I loved but just couldn't bring myself to go outside! Going from car, to work, to car, to home was about all the outdoor time I could handle.

I bring to you my favorite looks from springs past. These are the items, and temps, I'm dreaming about these days.

We have a couple of things planned this weekend so fingers crossed I will capture some weekend looks on camera! Here's wishing you all a wonderful weekend! MWAH!

Sunday Zoo Day

Sweater: Ann Taylor (gift); T-Neck: J.Crew; Jeans: LOFT; Hat: Urban Outfitters;
Shoes: Diesel via TJ Maxx; Sunnie: Prada (gift)

This past Sunday was a gorgeous day by February standards. Mid 50s and sunny so I decided the family needed a day out of the house. I don't know about you, but this winter has been really rough. It hasn't been a horrible in terms of weather. It just seems to have been a long one! I was definitely ready for an outing with the boys!

We decided to spend the afternoon at the zoo, one of our favorite places to go. We have a beautiful zoo that's constantly growing. We now have two Polar Bears who we hope will have babies! Later this summer we are getting a penguin exhibit! So excited! McKinley is a blast at this age. He loved seeing the "amals" and would imitate the sounds of the elephants, gorillas and lions. Just a wonderful day!

Even though it was in the 50s, there was still a chill in the air. I didn't want to wear a coat so I doubled up on sweaters. I layered a cashmere turtleneck under one of my favorite sweaters to date! This little guy is like a sweater and blanket in one! A perfect combo for the day. I added a hat as it was a dress and go kind of day. I needed to hide the day (or two) old hair! Sunnies hid the minimal, okay no makeup. We were outta there!

I would say that a sweater of this nature is a definite investment. I wear it all the time. A great weekend piece that I wear over t-shirts, denim button downs and t-necks. It has also been a great piece for work. It will dress down a look when I have the need to look a little dressy yet casz!

Other ways I've worn the cream sweater:

Actually

Sweater: Anthropologie (gift); T-Neck: Old Navy (old/similar)
Denim Shirt: J.Crew Outlet (similar); Jeans: LOFT; Boots: Halogen via Nordstrom
Belt: ?; Hat/Gloves: Target; Sunnies: Target; Necklace: Tiffany (gift)

So this what I actually wore on the first snow day of the year! Almost all the same components, right? For me, this is a foolproof look and my go-to pieces for winter. And, today just happens to be the first day of winter! Can't wait to cook up a new look for the cold we're experiencing again today!
