The Blanket Scarf

 Scarf: ASOS; Sweater: Robert Rodriquez; T-Neck: J.Crew
Boyfriend Jeans: Loft (similar); Boots: Ivanka Trump (similar/under $50);
Bracelets: J.Crew/David Yurman (gift/similar)/Gorjana (similar)/Gift;
Handbag: Balenciaga; Gloves: Target

 The blanket scarf is one of the biggest trends this winter and I for one am a huge fan! It's incredibly warm, super chic, and this particular one is so strong in color! And with this arctic like winter, tomorrow is supposed to be five degrees when we wake up, I'm pretty sure this will be the first thing I grab when walking out the door.

Because I love this trend so much, I discovered a little DIY version on Pinterest! MomAdvice provided a little tutorial on how to create your own and it's a no-sew version as well! I tried it out and it totally worked! I can't wait to share it with you tomorrow. You too can have a blanket scarf in a matter of minutes! Okay maybe an hour! Check back tomorrow for a little how-to!

  Did you notice anything new to Style My Way? It got a facelift and I can't thank Katie Niemiec over at Little Black Blog enough! She truly captured the essence of me and Style My Way! And what's so amazing is that we've never met in person! She truly is an incredible designer! Thank you Katie! I love it!!!

So why a facelift you ask? I felt the need to give Style My Way the sophistication it so desperately needed and now was the time to make that change! I've grown and I wanted my blog to reflect that growth. It all goes hand in hand, right? I now have the look I've wanted from the beginning and I can't wait to continue the direction in which we are moving together!

And because Style My Way is all dolled up, I wanted to bring my fanciest look to the party! This is one of my favorite dresses but it never really gets out and about. I can't say I'm original in it's styling, I've borrowed the idea from several of my favorite bloggers, but I've still made it my own with my signature, doubled up statement necklaces and bold lip. I love the look, I love my new blog, and I love Katie for bringing my vision to life!

My dad and I headed to the West Bottoms for the shoot and I think he did an amazing job capturing the essence of this part of the city! I love all the different locations we found! Check them out below.

I can't wait to hear what you think of the new design! I love it! And I love the photos my dad took. What a great background, no?
Have a fabulous Monday, Fashionista's!!

My Beauty in 2015

In keeping with the New Year's theme of goals and resolutions, I am making a goal to try and blog more about beauty and the products I love and use repeatedly, products I really want to use, and the ones I end up trying.

Lately, I've really neglected my facial routine, especially at night. I'm trying to make a concerted effort to get back into the cleansing process and not let busy nights and bedtime routines be an excuse. As most of you know, I'm a Clinique girl. I've been using their Three Step Program for over 20 years and I'm not about to change now. Don't worry, I will talk all about it in a later post. And while on my quest for clean healthy skin, I'm thinking of investing in a cleansing brush. Clinique has one that I'm researching, but after asking Lucky Magazine beauty editor Jean Godfrey June her opinion, to which she gave it her seal of approval, I'm not sure more research is needed!

I'm currently on the look out for a new mascara. I used a Clinique mascara for years and recently found out that they discontinued it. I was almost in tears! I've been experimenting with a few different brands and fell in love with the Chanel INIMITABLE mascara. But at $30 a tube, and being on a budget, I just can't swing it right now. So, I recently purchased "America's favorite" Maybelline Great Lash mascara. At $3.99 a tube, this is much more wallet friendly. I've only used it once so I will keep you posted on my thoughts.

Other items I hope to chat about are my favorite drugstore finds, my go-to products for everyday use, makeup application tips that I've learned along the way, what to spend your money on and where to save, and I'm hoping to hear from you regarding topics you would like to have me tackle!

I'm excited about this new adventure in blogging! But, if you were hoping this was the big announcement I talked about yesterday, it wasn't!! Check back Monday for the big reveal! I can't wait!

Happy Friday, Beauties! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Remember how I said we are pretty low key on NYE now a days? Well, this was my fairly low key look with a little hint of statement! I posted about how I thought you could make a statement on the big night and here's how I made mine. I added a gold, glitter, Peter Pan collar top, navy faux fur, and a bright pink lip! Paired with boyfriend jeans and my new favorite booties, that were all but forgotten, I was ready to ring in the New Year!

 What did you end up wearing for the big night? Did you add a big statement or subtle ones like mine? Can't wait to hear!

Speaking of hear, you heard it here first! I've got something happening on Style My Way and I'm dying to share it with you all. Check back daily to see the big announcement!

Get Moving with New Kicks and Ten Thousand Steps

Now that the holidays or over, everyone is making or announcing their resolutions and goals for the New Year. I have to say, I'm not one for resolutions because I just never stick to them! Goals are great to have, like getting organized or making professional strides, but the losing 10 pounds or getting back in the gym resolutions never happen for me!

I used to be a three or four time a week gym girl. I would get so mad in January when there were new people on my treadmill that I had been using for the past eleven months. With that being said, I got a Fitbit Flex for Christmas, a gift my mom swore didn't say "I think you're fat". She knows that I'm just wanting to get moving and healthy. And I promise you this, I won't be that girl stealing your treadmill!

With movement means new kicks! I think I need super cute pair that look darling with boyfriend jeans and shorts later this summer. Without further ado, I've picked four of my top picks from Shopbop!

Let's get moving this year! And a great pair of sneakers are a big motivator, no?

Little Red Dots

Top: Boden (sold out/cute option); Jeans: LOFT; Flats: J.Crew (similar/under $30);
Bag: Kooba (similar); Gloves: Land's End (similar); Shades: MbyMJ; Earrings: Gorjana

If I'm being honest, and I usually am, I wore this look two days in a row! Why, you may ask? Because I never got a photo from the day before. I changed out a few things though. I wore these boots and this jacket for a lunch date with my girlfriend Carolyn. What an amazing time! We hadn't seen each other in almost three years and there was so much to catch up on! I feel like I see her all the time between Facebook and Instagram, but that's definitely not the same thing. In the new calendar year, we have agreed to never let that much time lapse again. After all, she's my pea in a pod!

This is how I wore the look on day two for a lunch at Chuck E. Cheese. This time the lunch date was with my hubby and son. Why, you may ask? Because we needed to get out of the house, and when it's super cold, we go to Chuck E. Cheese. And, I needed an excuse to wear this again!

Into the Woods

Sweater: Boden (on sale); T-Neck: Loft (similar); Boyfriend Jeans: LOFT (similar);
Booties: Camper; Handbag: Kooba (similar); Necklace: Banana Republic; Shades: LOFT
Bracelets: Stella & Dot/Kate Spade;Ring: Etiquette Boutique (similar); Nail Color: Essie Madison Ave-Hue

Hey dolls! Welcome to 2015!! I took a tiny break from blogging and enjoyed some down time with the family. We played (a lot), hung out with my parents, won a cheap "Lego" set from Chuck E. Cheese, and the hubs and I went on a date! Our first date in ages. We headed to the AMC Fork and Screen for a little lunch and a movie. It was so nice spending some time together! We saw Into the Woods and really enjoyed it. I'm a musical theater fan so it was nice to see it up on the big screen. I liked it so much better than Les Miserables. (Don't get me started on that one....)

I got a few new pieces for Christmas, this sweater being one of them. I love the color. It's so subtle and a great neutral. It's incredibly soft. It feels more like a blanket than a sweater. And, it was the perfect item to wear to a movie in the middle of a chilly afternoon. Paired with my fav boyfriend jeans and wedge booties, that I'm so glad I found, this was definitely the right date look choice!

Curly hair girls, I gotta question for you. What is your product of choice? Having had naturally curly hair for pretty much my entire life, and living through years where product for our hair type was NOT available, I've literally tried everything on the market. I've used gel, spray gel, curling cream, mousse, all above products with a diffuser or worn alone. I have found that the one and only product that works for me is the John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse. However, on this particular day I tried the curling cream again, and what do you know, it was a horrible hair day! If it ain't broke, right?

 I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year! I for one had the best time with my family and loved watching it all unfold through my sons eyes! I am so excited for 2015 and all the prospects I have professionally. A new year, a new chapter!

Happy Monday All!
