Fancy Shoes

 Top: J.Crew; Jeans: Loft; Shoes: Coclico; Jacket: Banana Republic;
Handbag: Kooba; Shades: MbyMJ; Necklace: J.Crew

When I got dressed yesterday, I wasn't really giving any thought to my day ahead. I just simply got dressed. I knew I had to run to the grocery store, but our agenda was fairly light. As I was making my shoe selection, I originally tried on flats, but with a change of heart I grabbed these. When we got over to my parents house, we were spending the day with my dad, he commented on my shoes. "What's with the fancy shoes", he asked. I didn't really think about them being fancy, I just I like them.

But as the day went on, I started thinking more about fancy things and why we save them for later. My mom is infamous for this. She won't carry a nice bag or waits to wear certain shoes or outfit for the right time. With the passing of my grandmother, something that happened so suddenly, it truly is a reminder that life is too short to wait for the right time! So instead of wondering what other people will think when I wear a crazy pattern or style, I'm just going to wear it because I like it. That new handbag that arrived in the mail yesterday? You bet I'm wearing it this week! The right time is today!

Do you do this with anything in your closet? Wait for the right occasion or just feel it's too nice to wear on a Wednesday afternoon? If so, I challenge you to just go for it! Wear it now! Be fancy, even if it's a Tuesday morning!

It's a Sunshine Day

 Sweater: Target; Tank: Banana Republic; Jeans: Ann Taylor; Sneakers: Target;
Scarf: Loft; Shades: MbyMJ

Sorry I've been missing for a while. We had some family matters to tend to but I'm back and ready to blog! Last Wednesday was a Mama and McKinley day to ready ourselves for our big trip back to VA. I wanted him to have a big day before a rather trying time with travel. We attended story time at our local library then exchanged a birthday gift for him at Toys R Us. We had pizza in the food court at the mall before a carousel ride, a little shopping with gift cards at the Disney Store and Build-A-Bear, and lastly some shoe shopping at Nordstrom. It was a busy but fun day!

I wanted to add a little sunshine to my look since it was a pretty rainy, dreary day. And it was rather cool. I wished I had grabbed a jacket before leaving. This bright sweater totally fit the bill and my toucan scarf was a perfect accent! By the time we took outfit pics, the sun was shining and the humidity was up. That's Kansas weather for you!

Wednesday Wants - Maxi Dresses

As much as I'm into rompers and jumpsuits this season, I'm equally obsessed with maxi dresses! The thing I love most about a maxi dress is that they are so easy to wear and style! They can be dressed up for a night out with friends or your better half. They can be dressed down for a day at the zoo or when running endless errands! I like to pair mine with either heels or wedges for those dressy nights and either sneakers or flat sandals for day. So versatile. Throw on a denim jacket or light weight sweater to ward off the chill.

I've been browsing around and I've narrowed my search down to five! I think these are perfect for spring and summer. And honestly, they can all be worn well into fall.

My New Look

 Denim Jacket: Ralph Lauren (similar); Top: Loft (similar); Joggers: JCPenney;
Sneakers: Adidas via DSW (fun option); Shade: MbyMJ; Earrings: Silpada; Necklace: Silpada

These joggers have been worn way more than they've been photographed. I love them! This is an errand day look, a look that I've been sporting more and more lately, and I'm becoming more comfortable with that. I used to think that I wasn't being a very good fashion blogger because I wasn't dressing up everyday, or taking outfit pics daily, but I've come to terms that this is my look and I need to share it!

My trusty denim jacket truly goes with everything! A striped top, colorful sneakers, and fun jewels just add to the overall look. And when you're running errands, comfort is key, and that's just what this look is!

Sunday Chic

Sweater: Loft (similar/40% off); T-Shirt: Old Navy (cute option); Jeans: Loft (similar/40% off);
Sneakers: Target (similar/on sale); Hat: Arden B (similar); Necklaces: The Zoe Report/Stella & Dot

Two weeks ago I had one of the busiest and dressiest weekends I've had in a long time. Thursday and Friday nights were full-on fashion with KCFW. Saturday night was date night with my hubby to see Maroon 5 so I wore something super cute for our evening together. By Sunday I was looking to just relax and wear something really low key! I literally grabbed the first things I saw in my dresser and the comfiest jeans I could find. Sneakers and a hat, because I didn't feel like washing my hair, finished off the look. I didn't even wear makeup! Sunnies are the best way to get around that! For photos, I threw on a little lip gloss. I call this Sunday Chic!
