Spring to Fall

Denim Dress: JCPenney (great option); Belt: Ann Taylor (fun option); Heels: Coclico (staple pair);
Shades: Target; Rings: Gorjana (similar); Necklaces: The Zoe Report/Stella & Dot;
Bracelets: Kate Spade/Tulip Boutique; Nail Color OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

I love a piece that can be worn season after season. This denim dress was something I wore in late spring for a day out with McKinley and if it ain't broke.... I wore this dress yesterday for another day out with McKinley and I love that I can take it from spring to fall! Yesterday we went to story time at the library, had lunch with Meme, and then I ventured out to the grocery store while he opted to stay at Meme's and play. I would have chosen that as well! But, having a dress like this to get me through a busy day, just enhanced it's closet power!

I had a hard time styling the shoes. I literally tried on every "fall" pair I could think of that weren't four to five inch heels. I love the booties with dresses/skirt trend, but it cut off the length of my leg, and it left my legs looking stubby. Not a good thing! I'm not ready for tall boots, it just feels too early, but it turned chilly this afternoon, so maybe I should have worn them. In the end, a low neutral heel was the way to go.

Styling Tip: Be mindful of trends. Again, I love the bootie trend that's currently taking place, but be careful of length. A bootie that comes over the ankle, but a skirt that comes to the knee, you run the risk of cutting off half the leg. Don't do it! A tall boot with the same length skirt, that's okay. Just play with proportions and make sure you're showing off those gams!!

One more thing, when looking at pieces that you want to take you from season to season, invest in key pieces like a denim dress. What I love about this one is the length, the versatile sleeves that can be rolled up for a 3/4 look or rolled down for a full sleeve. This will be great paired with a chunky sweater and tights. There are so many ways to style it which makes it a wardrobe staple!

Hope your Wednesday is stylin!

Fancy Shoes

 Top: J.Crew; Jeans: Loft; Shoes: Coclico; Jacket: Banana Republic;
Handbag: Kooba; Shades: MbyMJ; Necklace: J.Crew

When I got dressed yesterday, I wasn't really giving any thought to my day ahead. I just simply got dressed. I knew I had to run to the grocery store, but our agenda was fairly light. As I was making my shoe selection, I originally tried on flats, but with a change of heart I grabbed these. When we got over to my parents house, we were spending the day with my dad, he commented on my shoes. "What's with the fancy shoes", he asked. I didn't really think about them being fancy, I just I like them.

But as the day went on, I started thinking more about fancy things and why we save them for later. My mom is infamous for this. She won't carry a nice bag or waits to wear certain shoes or outfit for the right time. With the passing of my grandmother, something that happened so suddenly, it truly is a reminder that life is too short to wait for the right time! So instead of wondering what other people will think when I wear a crazy pattern or style, I'm just going to wear it because I like it. That new handbag that arrived in the mail yesterday? You bet I'm wearing it this week! The right time is today!

Do you do this with anything in your closet? Wait for the right occasion or just feel it's too nice to wear on a Wednesday afternoon? If so, I challenge you to just go for it! Wear it now! Be fancy, even if it's a Tuesday morning!

Rock It

Jacket: BB Dakota via Shopbop; Top: Etiquette Boutique (similar); Jeans: Loft (similar);
Heels: Coclico (sinilar); Cross-Body: Rebecca Minkoff (other colors); Shades: MbyMJ;
Necklaces: The Zoe Report/Stella & Dot (1/2); Bracelet: J.Crew (similar);
Ring: Etiquette Boutique (similar here)

Last Saturday night my hubby and I had a date night with Maroon 5!! It was awesome! I missed them the last time they were in town and vowed I wouldn't allow that to happen again. I'm so glad I didn't! Adam and team rocked Sprint Arena for two solid hours and I rocked out right along with them. Would I see them again? To paraphrase Big, abso-fing-lutely!

 And for a great rock concert, you have to have a look that rocks. This one totally did! I picked up this BB Dakota jacket from the Shopbop sale a couple of weeks ago. It's still available and comes in four different colors. All of which are currently in stock!! Seriously, nab this one while you can!! Such a great layering piece. It's soft as butta, light weight, and so chic! I paired mine with a loose fitted tank and distressed boyfriend jeans. Low heeled sandals, gold layered necklaces, and a cross-body completed the look!

What is your favorite thing to wear to a concert? Are you a dress and heels girl or skinny jeans and cute top kind? I run the gamut when it comes to concert attire. But the one thing I refuse to wear is that bands t-shirt! Wear it a week later with whatever feels right. Just not that night. Deal?

Rock it out, Fashionista's!
