The Jumpsuit

You all know how I feel about jumpsuits, as I have several, so you can imagine how excited I was about a recent article in the January issue of Lucky regarding the jumpsuit comeback. This isn't truly a comeback in my existing wardrobe, but it validated my need to keep them in my closet! And, as I was flipping through a recent Anthropologie catalog, I found a darling jumpsuit that I'm pretty sure I must have! I think its conservative enough to wear into the office, but playful enough for an evening out!

As for my jumpsuit obsession, see the looks below.

Did the jumpsuit die in the 70s or is it making a comeback?

A New Year

It's a new year for the Krasnow's, and as I think back over 2011, I can't help being sad to see it end. We have so many amazing things ahead of us this year, but 2011 is year that can never be matched. And for one simple reason really, the birth of our son McKinley Edward. McKinley has brought unbelievable joy to my life, a constant smile to my face and a love to my heart that I have never known. I feel so honored to be his mother and so blessed that he picked me to be his mommy.

As we enter 2012, McKinley will turn nine months old six days in. I can't believe how the time has flown! He's growing like a weed, learning something new everyday and all the while keeping us constantly entertained. He is an amazing traveler. He barely batted an eye on a five hour rode trip, his first, and took it all in stride when traveling cross country later that summer. He thrives on a changing environment and grows weary when he's been in the same place to long. A little man after my own heart! Joel and I are thinking of vacation destinations for later this year and I believe one or two may involve flight. I know McKinley will be up for the challenge.

Not wanting to rush things, but we will soon have a mobile baby on our hands. Watch out world! He's currently crawling backwards, but I'm sure the fast forward button is on the horizon. He's also a foodie. So far he's enjoyed homemade apple butter, chocolate cake, lemon bar filling, gravy and biscuits and cheeseburgers. Not too shabby for an eight month palette. I can't wait to see what's on the menu over the next few months. Those taste buds are constantly evolving!

The biggest thing I look forward to in the coming months, those leading up to his first birthday, is the ever growing bond between us. I often ask McKinley if he loves me as much as I love him and he responds by patting me, pulling my hair or touching my face. In my world that means yes and I will take it every time! He may not say "mama" all the time, but those small gestures mean more than words ever could. In 2011, he is the best thing I could have ever done!

Holiday Gifts = Fur

Sweater: The Limited (gift); Cami: Ann Taylor;
Pants: Ann Taylor Loft; Shoes: Circa Joan and David (gift);
Ring/Earrings: Silpada; Necklace: Tiffany (gift)

My family sure knows me! This year resulted in two different faux fur sweaters from both my husband and my mom! Honestly, I girl can't have too much fur! What I love about this sweater is that 1) the fur collar is detachable, 2) it's shorter at the waist than most of my others and 3) its comfy! I also like that it is 3/4 sleeve. I'm already thinking of other options aside from the cami. My denim button down, a white tee with jeans, cream pants and cami....the options for this one are endless. Okay, probably not endless, but there are many to try!

What I hate that you can't see from the photo, stupid nighttime shots, is that my shoes are deep burgundy. I nice option in contrast to the gray and black. They don't pull focus because of the deep hue, but not something expected peeking out from under the hem. Remember, you don't always have to wear black shoes with black pants! And color doesn't have to mean bold. Small things to keep in mind when looking for a change of pace.

New Year

It is another new year and I have so many things that I would love to personally achieve. One major focus is this blog. I really want my readers to find it useful and inspiring. And with that being said, I would love to receive feedback from you on what you want to see and/or read each day. I will continue to take photos of looks I think are fun, creative and easy to re-create. And, I will continue to throw in looks that are edgy, trendy and inspirational to me.

One major goal I have is to pair down my closet and really get to a place where I have clothing I know I wear either daily or often. Not necessarily organization, but to really examine my pieces and truly think about how often I wear them, how dated is the look and is it something that I still love. If it doesn't meet any of those criteria, it's out! Same goes with accessories such as handbags, scarves and jewelry. As for shoes, I'm constantly recycling and ridding myself of styles I know I don't wear. My closet, and style, are ever evolving and I really need to ensure it looks the part.

(The above closet has since been cleaned and organized!)

(This one pretty much looks like this now.)

What do you have planned for your closet this year? Will you do the same as far as cleaning out or will you fill it with something new, bold and out of your comfort zone? Do you have a fashion challenge for yourself? Do you have a fashion challenge for me? I'm always trying to challenge myself, but would love to hear from you as well. I look forward to what the year brings regarding fashion and how I might incorporate it. I also look forward to where the direction my blog might go. I look to you as readers for support and guidance!
Happy New Year!
