Navy and Lace

Coat: Ann Taylor; Top: Ann Taylor;
 Belt: Ann Taylor; Pants: Ann Taylor;
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (gift); Jewelry: Silpada;
Sunnies: Prada (gift)

I purchased these pants several months ago and just haven't worn them. I can't tell you why, I just haven't. I think part me thought they might be too tight, which isn't the case, but that's how my mind works at times. I had different plans for these pants when getting dressed. I really wanted to pair them with a black cardigan and cami, but the cardigan was super short! I just felt the need for some coverage. I found comfort, and coverage, with the topper!

 I added a belt because my top has a lot of volume, something I didn't need with the volume of the coat. And since the belt is black, I thought my patent Mary Jane's would be a perfection addition. News flash: I never pair navy shoes with navy pants, skirts or dresses! Actually, I don't even own a pair...wait a minute...I do own a pair of navy shoes, but I would never pair them with a navy bottom! You can't ever get the navy's to match and who wants to be matchy-matchy anyway!

Monotone

Dress: Suzy Chin for Maggie London;
Belt: Harolds (old); Handbag: Burberry (gift);
Shoes: Sam Edelman; Watch: Emporio Armani

I found these shoes in my closet and had to work them into a look!  As I laid awake around 3:30 one morning, this dress came to mind. I then added the shoes, the belt and decided that I needed to carry a different handbag as well. I wanted you to see the whole look as I had paired it.

Then I saw the photos and I couldn't believe how Johnny one note it was! I seriously needed some color. Maybe not in the details, but with my makeup. I'm dying to try the burgundy lip that is all over the beauty pages! I'm thinking I need stop by the MAC counter ASAP!

Understated Elegance

Dress: Calvin Klein; Pumps: Ann Taylor;
Necklace: Ann Taylor; Ring: Banana Republic (super old);
 Sunnies: Prada

When dropping off my son earlier this week, my mom said to me "Going for understated elegance?" So understated elegance it is!

This is a new black sheath and I'm going to say it again ladies...you need to invest in one! This is probably the number one item every woman should have in her closet! Number One! It literally works for any occasion. Throw on a blazer and conservative shoes for an interview. Add sparkle and some fab pumps for a wedding. Add animal print pumps and a fun necklace for a day at the office. Seriously, go buy one now!

And because the canvas allows for so many styling options, I decided to go with some fun, printed pumps. Don't go too big with the jewels though. A chunky necklace in a neutral tone still makes quite an impact.
