Eyeko - It's All about the Eyes

I don't write beauty posts as much as I would like because I just don't really know how to write them. I use the same products almost every day to cleanse, but I break up my routine with different eye shadow colors from various product lines. I have experimented with different facial wipes lately, recently landing on Say Yes to Carrots. But when I was approached to try a couple of products from Eyeko, a UK based company that specializes in award winning mascaras, eyeliners, and brow products, I jumped at the chance! I love playing in makeup as much as I love playing in my closet!

Eyeko was founded in 1999 by beauty veterans Max and Nina Leykind. As of 2013, style icon Alexa Chung joined the company as their Creative Consultant. It is their mission to ensure "no make-up bag is without the companies critically acclaimed vast array of targeted eye cosmetics and treatments." And I can officially say my make-up bag is now complete with some of their products as well!

I received three items: the Mascara Off eye makeup remover wipes, the Brow Gel, and the Eye Do liquid liner.

The first thing I used was the eye make-up wipes and I am a fan for life! I normally use an eye make-up remover from Clinique that honestly stings and leaves me a little blurry eyed post application. These had the reverse effect. My eyes felt clean and bright!

The cloths may be small, but they are mighty......

But, look how much they removed! Made of 100% pure cotton, they are infused with olive oil and aloe extract to sooth. Sooth they did

 Next up was the brow gel. Now, I had some brow gel years ago from MAC. It was a clear gel that I smoothed over my brows to help keep them in place. I was expecting the same thing from this gel. Not at all what I expected! It's more like a tinted mascara for your brows and it left mine clumpy, wet, and they looked unnatural. I can't say with all honesty that I loved this product. But try it for yourself. You may feel differently. Cosmopolitan gave it one of their Beauty Awards in 2013.

Lastly, I tried the liquid liner. I'm scared of liquid liners. I never really have much success with accomplishing what I want when I go to apply. That wasn't the case with this liner. It's easy!! The liner itself is stiff so it doesn't allow for a lot of mistakes. And, it simply glided along my lid. I can't wait to continue to experiment!! And how cute is the saying on the tube? "That's where I draw the line." Clever! This was an Elle Beauty British award winner.

Not a great selfie, but it gives you the idea of how it turned out!

Want to check out all the eye products of Eyeko? Head on over to your local Beauty Brands! They recently started carrying this product line and I can't wait to check out their shadows! I'm always look for a new color, especially now that fall/winter is here. It's my little way to warm up my beauty look! What are you going to try first?

Chocaholic

Sweater: TJ. Maxx (similar); Jeans: LOFT (40% off sale);
Boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (on sale); Scarf: Gift (similar); Handbag: Louis Vuitton (gift);
 Shades: LOFT

I love chocolate! Whether it's in the form of a candy bar, or in my wardrobe, I can't get enough! So when my hubby gave me this scarf as an anniversary gift, I immediately planned my look around it! Yes, it was on a Sunday when I had nothing planned but a trip the grocery store! No, I had not had a shower or applied makeup. I didn't care. I had to wear it! I grabbed my new favorite pair of jeans, brand new boots that I got for my birthday, and a classic handbag that I love but rarely carry, and I was out the door.

I was dying of heat by the time I got home. It got up into the upper 60s by the afternoon and wool was not my friend! I ditched the scarf by the time I left the grocery store and this look was a thing of the past post photo shoot! However, since we apparently live in Alaska now with this Arctic Blast we're experiencing, this look could be back on ration this week!

Keep warm in KC, Fashionista's!

Three Things I Love

 Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors (gift/on maj sale); Sweater: Ann Taylor (similar);
Pants: J.Crew (on sale); Sneakers: Target; Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff via Gilt;
Shades: MbyMJ

I'm literally wearing three of my favorite things that currently hang in my closet. I literally lived in this sweater a couple of winters ago, these pants last fall, and the leather jacket always! The shoes are new, I blogged about them here, and they are here to stay! So comfortable and the quilting makes them so chic!

All three pieces have been work day looks, but they also pair perfectly for a more laid back look! You know like when going to the dentist, making a trip to Costo, or taking your toddler to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. That's exactly where this look to me!

Winter like temps are literally around the corner, which I dread, but having worn these pieces again I'm inspired to style up some toasty warm looks!

A Real Night Out - Look Revealed

Coat: INC via Macy's (similar); Dress: Piperlime; Shoes: Louise et Cie (on sale);
Necklace: Ann Taylor; Clutch: Kate Spade

Let me be the first to say that I know these photos are not the best we've ever taken. It was 9:00 at night, with only my iPhone camera, and it was literally in the 30s! We had dinner on the Plaza at Plaza III and then took a little drive to my favorite fountain which happens to be the place where some of our wedding photos were taken.

What do you think of the piece I picked? Remember the post from last week? I fell in love with the little Tinley Road dress and that fact that it was on sale made it even more appealing! I can't wait to style it in various ways, especially during the holidays.

Twelve years of marriage looks good on us, no?

I promise better quality photos in the future, but I was so excited to share my look with you! Oh, and did you see the fabulous shoes? A gift from my parents for my birthday and they are amazing! And so comfortable.

Happy Monday!! Here's to a fashionable week everyone!

A Real Night Out - Our Anniversary

This weekend is our anniversary. On Sunday we will celebrate our 12 year wedding anniversary and I can honestly say I can't believe it's been 12 years! My husband mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he was making anniversary plans and to see if my parents would be willing to watch McKinley for the evening. However, he never volunteered specifics. I was curious if it was a surprise, and when I inquired, I was told he was looking into something and was waiting for a return phone call.

I grew more curious everyday and everyday he said nothing. Then last weekend I asked him if the evening was a surprise or just something he was still planning. It turns out he had planned an evening upon the Kansas Belle. The Kansas Belle is a dinner train that runs for three hours, serves a three course meal, and we were going to sit in the USO car which would supply entertainment along the route. It sounded like the best evening ever! That is until we started reading the fine print which indicated if anyone experiences motion sickness, this might not be the event for you. My husband suffers from motion sickness and I just couldn't have him take this train ride and be miserable. So now we are headed to Plaza III and I'm so excited. We've never dined there and I'm really looking forward to an adult evening!

Because it's such a special occasion, I've been on the hunt for a special look. I've narrowed it down to six pieces and I honestly can't decide! I love a dress, but I also love a jumpsuit. I always wear black, so I'm thinking of adding either color or graphic prints. Here's what I've picked!

One: Ann Taylor/Two: Piperlime/Three: Piperlime
Four: Piperlime/Five: Ann Taylor/Six: Piperlime

If you were headed for a night with your guy, which one would you pick? I love them all. Think I could find an occasion for six new pieces? I'm sure I could! I mean the holidays are coming up, right?

Happy Friday, Fashionistas!

Transition Pieces - Fall to Winter

Vest: Old Navy (winter option); Tee: Gap; Boyfriend Jeans: LOFT (similar);
Sandals: ShoeMint (fun option); Shades: LOFT
Necklaces: The Zoe Collective/Stella & Dot

A couple of weeks ago it was a cool morning but wound up in the 80s! I said to my husband that I loved it being warm, but was so ready for a crisp fall day. Looking at the five day forecast, we are in a for a cold snap! Maybe I shouldn't have wished away that 80 degree day.

I always have issues styling a look for cool mornings and hot afternoons, but I have to say that this look totally worked! I love a t-shirt and jean combo, but the vest and animal print shoes added some pop! Soak up this look everyone! It may be a while before I get to wear something like this.

There are elements of this look that can totally transition to fall and winter. The vest will be great over heavy sweaters or dresses and I can add leopard print booties for spice. Who needs 80 degrees when you have the perfect pieces to take you through out the year!

Mad for Plaid

Scarf: T.J. Maxx (similar/25% off); Tee: Target; Scarf: Aldo; Boyfriend Jeans: LOFT (similar);
Wedges: Farylrobin (similar); Shades: MbyMJ

My newest obsession, aside from the flared satchels I blogged about yesterday, is plaid! I order this blanket scarf the other day and then found this infinity scarf over the weekend. They are polar opposites, but must-haves for fall and winter! I'm thinking of ways to style it with dresses, striped sweaters, my puff vests, and winter coats. It's a versatile piece with a big punch!

It was a very chilly fall day yesterday and I was originally hesitant to wear a wool sweater. I am so glad I did! Paired with a beloved pair of boyfriend jeans and wedges that I adore, I was able to ward off the cold even if this look was cool in style.

What is your go-to piece for a chilly fall day? Is it a chunky wool sweater, a thick scarf, or both? I am a girl who loves options, especially when I wear them all at once!
