Working Saturday

Jacket: H&M (fun option); T-Neck: Ann Taylor; Jeans: Loft; Booties: Rebecca Minkoff (similar);
Shades/Jewelry: Stella & Dot

Last Saturday I had a trunk show for one of the sweetest people! I met her after she won a silent auction item donated by me; a catered trunk show complete with champagne, cupcakes, and jewels! All she had to do was invite 20 of her friends. We had it out on the porch of a local boutique in Olathe, and even though we froze, we had a great time! I love working Saturday's when it's with fun people!

Because it was on the chilly side, I went for a heavy jacket that was still on the summer vibe. I adore this H&M jacket, and it turns out, is the BEST trunk show piece to wear! It matches all of the colors for our summer line, setting each piece off with an extra pop! (Side note: these two pieces are perfection with the jacket!! 1/2 )

So I've worn this jacket exactly three times, and every time I do, I seem to wear it with jeans. It's such an easy piece. However, I think over a little black dress would be so cool. Or maybe over a black jumpsuit for chilly evenings. I need to definitely get dressed up and take this jacket out for spin!

I hope you guys have a fantastic Friday. For the first time all spring, we don't have a thing planned. Sleeping in won't be on the agenda, but taking it easy definitely is!

Happy Friday, Fashionista's!

I Heart Navy and Yellow

Sweater: Target (similar); Top: LC Lauren Conrad; Jeans: Loft (simiar); Booties: Vince Camuto;
Shades/Jewelry/Handbag: Stella and Dot

A new top makes a girl feel special, right? Well this one is super cute! My sweet mom bought me some cute tops from the LC Lauren Conrad line at Kohl's for Mother's Day and I can't wait to wear them all. This little navy one, covered in white hearts, felt totally appropriate for the afternoon ahead.

Last Friday we took McKinley to get tap shoes and technique shoes for his Kindergarten Combo dance class he's taking this summer. I love that he's taking a dance class for the summer. It may not turn into anything more, but it makes my heart full that he's at least interested for now. (We also have t-ball on Saturday's and swimming lessons for two weeks in June/July.) And when your hearts full, you wear them on your shirt, right?

I started out with just the top, but it needed a little something. I decided to add a little sweater and the pop of yellow was perfect. I love pairing navy and yellow together. A sweet color combo. Distressed jeans, my favorite booties, and white aviators completed the look.

I love that every time we take blog pics, he wants to be in some. I know this won't last much longer, so I'm taking full advantage! Isn't he the sweetest? Again, heart full!

It doesn't seem to want to stop raining around here and I seem to not want to do anything. This dreary weather has me all kinds of unmotivated and I am not loving that! Here's to a rain free rest of the week and some activities around the corner. I need to get out of my weather funk!

Happy Tuesday all!

An Oldie....

Top: Anthropologie (super cute option); Jeans: Loft; Heels: Kate Spade;
 Shades/All Jewelry: Stella & Dot

Earlier in the week I had the privilege of going to the theater with my mom and McKinley. We took him to see the Life and Times of the Three Little Pigs at Theater for Young America, our second time attending the theater. After the show, which was a little scary at times, he announced at lunch that maybe he could be an actor and we could come see him perform. I LOVE IT!!

After the show we went to lunch at Harvey's in Union Station and spent the rest of the afternoon at my parents. It was nice to get a little dressed up in the afternoon and wear heels! I feel so much more womanly when I can wear heels. I wear flats strictly for my times with McKinley, but heels are just more me! And I decided on a top that's an oldie but goodie. Those little birds are just the sweetest things and this top will never grow old.

 It's Friday and we have a huge weekend ahead! I have a trunk show Saturday afternoon and my mom and I are headed to see Carrie Underwood on Sunday! I love a girly weekend. What do you all have planned? And speaking of planned, I've got to start planning my fashionable weekend!

Have a fabulous Friday, Fashionista's!

Something About This Vest

Vest: H&M; Top: Loft (similar); Jeans: Loft (similar); Booties: Vince Camuto
All Jewelry: Stella & Dot

There is something about this vest. I feel like I take better blog pictures just by wearing it. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I'm finding my stride, and voice, when it comes to fashion right now. I've totally embraced BOHO for spring and I hope it continues throughout summer. This style fits me to a tee!

I love everything about this look and I wouldn't change a single piece of it. I'm wondering how this vest will look with a sleeveless jumpsuit or over a dress. I'm also wondering if I can pull it off with denim shorts. I guess there is only one way to find out. Try it all on!

The Vest Before

 As must of you know, I love to layer necklaces and these three are my all time favs! Shop them through my Stella & Dot link here!

We have an extremely busy day today! I have a meeting in the morning, possibly two, and McKinley has a Kindergarten assessment in the afternoon. Then we have book club tomorrow night. I can't wait for a little Cinco de Mayo beer tasting, fun conversation around a crazy book, and simply hanging out with the gals! I love days like this!

Hope you're having a stylin' week!

Dressing for Spring...

Vest: Zara (cute option); Tee: Boden; Jeans: Ann Taylor (similar);
Sandals: Pour la Victoire (similar); Jewelry: Stella & Dot
Lip Color: Revlon HD Matte in  Love

It can be hard to dress for spring around here due to the fact that the weather is so inconsistent! It's 75 one day, 51 the next, raining buckets another day, and 81 after that. On this particular day, it was humid, but not terribly warm, so I went with lighter layers. And I couldn't be happier that it's finally sandal weather! I've missed all my open toed shoes!

I love the stripes against the eyelet. The stripes play peek-a-boo under the subtle circles making it a little playful. And I liked keeping the vest open. However, I think I might add a thin belt over the self-belting next time. It will add a little dimension. Adding a nude shoe keeps the focus on the stripes. Plus, you know how I feel about trying to match navy's. Just don't!

The Vest: Before and After

If it weren't for McKinley getting up around 6:00 this morning, this post may have never happened. Yesterday is a blur as we had so much going on. By the time bedtime rolled around, I realized I had never blogged, but when your child asks you to lay down with him and sing him to sleep, you simply can't refuse! Definitely not an excuse for not blogging in my world!

It's a stormy morning around here with rain forecasted all day! I'm thinking it could be a pajama day! But, I'll be back tomorrow with some Wednesday Wants that I've had my eye on! Until then....

Those Mimosas.....

Blazer: Loft (similar); Tee: Prep Obsessed (c/o); Jeans: Loft; Booties: Vince Camuto;
Handbag: MbyMJ (cute option); Jewelry: Stella & Dot; Shades: Karen Walker via Gilt

My sweet baby boy turned five on Wednesday and I've cried, smiled, laughed, and cried some more. I can't get over the fact that five years has passed by and that he's growing up to be such an amazing big boy. With Kindergarten looming in the fall, I find myself needing more mimosas to help celebrate this momentous time and to help cheer me up! I mean how doesn't love orange juice with a side of bubbles!

And this tee is going to keep me on the cheerful side of life as well! This was the first item that really caught my eye on Prep Obsessed's Instagram and you can see why. The gray is the perfect shade of gray. The white letter makes it pop. And the softness of the fabric is unreal! Seriously, order this tee today!! You will never regret it.

My mom, son, and I went to Nordstrom's Cafe yesterday to treat McKinley to lunch as we continue to celebrate his fifth birthday. And when I got dressed, I knew that this tee was the perfect piece to style for an afternoon of posh lunching, shoe shopping, and mall walking. With a chill in the air, I paired it with my favorite black blazer. Dark denim helped keep the look dressy and my go-to spring booties were the best "walking" shoe for the occasion. I topped it all off with fun jewels and hints of pink. Definitely my favorite look this spring!

The Blazer: Before and After

 It's FRIDAY!! We have a huge weekend planned. Actually, my April is out of control and in a good way. What I'm hoping is that I can keep my calendar in check, my spring style evolving, and mimosas on the weekend.

See you all back here on Monday!
MUAH!

Another Dollar General Find....

Dress: Dollar General; Jacket: My Mom's; Handbag: Kooba; Booties: Vince Camuto;
All Jewelry: Stella & Dot

Whenever my family and I take the trip down to my parents house in Southern Missouri, my mom and I always find a reason to head to town. What we really want to do is hit the local Dollar General and buy scratcher tickets at the grocery store. We live it up on vacation! And whenever we visit DG, I always find a good find. Like camo maxi dress! I got this last fall and only worked up the nerve to wear it this spring. I always worry about cotton and it's ability to tug and pull on all the wrong places on my body. But when I put it on for a lunch date with my friend Stacy, it actually fit in all the right places!! I will definitely make this a staple come summer.

In order to make it appear to fit better, I'm going to talk about something we women never share. Undergarments. No, I didn't wear Spanx, although I own several pairs. I wore non-cotton granny panties! That's right, granny panties! The full coverage ensures that all my unflattering parts are nicely covered and the non-cotton doesn't allow the cotton of the dress grab a hold and never let go. It's worse than static cling! I recommend a jersey blend material to achieve this type of look. And make sure they are seamless!

The Denim Jacket: Before and After

These booties are simply the best booties I've ever owned! They are the perfect heel height for the copious amounts of walking we do and they literally work all year round!

When it comes to shopping, I have to repeat myself when I say never underestimate bargain shopping! Walmart, Dollar General, and K-Mart have provided some of the cutest pieces that have become staples. And I never want to hear "I can't afford to shop" when there are pieces like this that are under $15!!! A cute, trendy piece that will last season after season.
