Friday Night Runway Show Recap - Kansas City Fashion Week

So I'm pretty sure you know that last week was Kansas City Fashion Week! And if you didn't, then you haven't been reading my blog! The events leading up to the weekend shows were awesome which meant the weekend was going to be amazing. It didn't disappointed! Friday night showcased seven very different designers and their Spring collections. Of the seven, four designers in particular had me in awe of their creations. Take a look below at some of my favorites from each of their shows!

Architexture was a favorite of mine back in the spring and they were a favorite again this weekend. Their use of bold colors, inky black, and charcoal gray were so complimentary and uber chic! I especially loved the bright yellow! I also loved the extremely high top-not and dark lip!

The work of Tomboy Designs by Laura McGrew was so reminiscent of pieces worn in the 1960s which is an era I adore in fashion! It was fresh, modern mod, and clean. They were looks I could definitely see myself wearing!

Seriously, how adorable is that top? I am in love with it!

Heidi Herrman had some of the most wearable looks of the evening. Each piece that came down the runway was just as ready-to-wear as the next. And, because there were so many, I had to truly pick my favorites.

I adore this patch work pant jumpsuit! A little 1970s and that's why I love it so much!

I saved the best for last! Alicia Janesko Caftans and Resortwear was amazing! I have been on a Caftan hunt for some time now and I've finally found the perfect designer! I saw a few pieces from her fall collection earlier in the week and fell in love with a black sequined jumpsuit. Then I saw these pieces and loved each one as they came down the runway. And she made all of the headpieces. Pictures do not do them justice!

This last piece was hands down my favorite! Something straight out of Studio 54 and something this girl would wear almost anywhere! Seriously, anywhere! It's amazing!

So there you have it! My recap of the Friday evening runway shows and my favorites of the night. Can't wait to share my look for the evening and the rest of the events! Such a fashionable and exciting weekend!

Stay tuned.....

KCFW - Saturday Evening Runway Shows

The Saturday evening shows for KCFW were amazing! It ran the gamut of structured, feminine, avant-garde, and everyday wear. There were pieces that immediately caught my eye, or as soon as the model turned, it grabbed my attention from the back! You gotta love a look that has you coming and going. Here are a few of the looks, and designers, I loved.

The looks from Architexture were full of just that, texture. The folds, the gathers, and the draping were so detailed. And I loved the movement that the collection created. Some illusion, some full on flow.

House of Cochon was filled with futuristic, avant-garde, and dramatic looks that Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce, and Kesha could wear on the red carpet or on stage!

Koko Clemence was that designer that had the head spinning effect. Every look had something coming and going. The use of basket weave was amazing, the drapey fabrics looked so comfy and chic, and I love that there was a jumpsuit and a romper within the collection!

This romper is darling! I love the details throughout and just look at the back! See what I mean?!

The final show of the evening was by designer Laura Kathleen. For all you Project Runway watchers, she was on Season Nine and Season Two of Project Runway All Stars. Her collection was chic, sophisticated, and offered something for everyone. And, I would wear every single piece!

Did I mention I ordered these pants? Oh, and did I tell you Laura Kathleen herself told me my butt looked good in them? She's a good sales girl!

I had the most wonderful time at my first KC Fashion Week! I loved spending the day among fashionable people, talented designers, and exploring a new eye for fashion. I've made some new friends, contacts for future events, and learned some new techniques in the world of my photography. (I'm hoping I've made my dad proud as well.) Thanks for coming along for the journey! I hope you've enjoyed a birds eye view!

Next up? Taking runway to real life. Can't wait!!
