Friday Beauty: Honest

 The Honest Company. I've heard and read about the Honest Company simply because of actress Jessica Alba, but I never really thought to try their products. Founded in 2011, the company is all about honest products that are organic, without chemicals, and eco-friendly. I have never really been an organic girl. Then I had McKinley. I use Johnson and Johnson because they've been around forever. I wasn't really all that picky about diapers, but I preferred Huggies to any other brand, and I always used their wipes that were chemical free. He drinks organic milk and all his baby food was organic in nature. However, I never thought to try anything from Honest during his infancy. I wish I had. Have you seen how cute their diaper designs are?? Adorable!

Now, I'm a regular user of most of their products! I signed up for their essential bundle about three months ago and I've been mixing and matching my products each month. I'm using cleansers for the house, lotions and wipes for McKinley, and various body products for myself. My favorites so far are the organic bug spray, the organic body oil, the honest wipes, and the gel hand sanitizer. I love the household cleansers, but since this is a beauty post, I won't talk specifically about them. Just know they're good.

The sunscreen is thick and applies smoothly, but I find it to be bit greasy. When I applied on McKinley, I noticed instantly that his hair was oily from the application at his neck and face. When I use Water Babies, I don't see that happen. Something I could over look, since bath time is nightly in the summer, but something I wanted to pass along. I love that fact that there are zero scents. The bug spray is slightly scented, but it's not that chemically smell you get from other brands like Off. It's clean, and best of all, it works!!! We used it for the first time over Memorial Day weekend and he was bug bite free. Going to stock up on this stuff!

In this month's bundle, I added a few new things. I'm going to give the organic deodorant a try. I'm leery! When I think organic, I think it's not going to work and that I'll be a smelly girl within an hour. But, I will never know until I try. I spritzed this the other night and it smells amazing. Not overpowering, like it's the only scent I would be able to wear for the day, and I'm thinking I won't have the white powdery residue to contend with all summer. I'll keep you posted.

I'm always looking for a good lip balm so I'm going to give these a whirl as well. It's a cute little pack of three and the two scented ones smell great! And for Mother's Day, I got a freebie so I'm passing it along to my mom to try as well. (I also sent her the organic body oil and she loved it too!)

Honestly, this company is great and great to work with! The ordering process is super easy, you can change up your bundle monthly to suit your needs, and it ships every four weeks, but you can adjust the time frame in which you need it. So many products to chose from that you really can go completely organic for the entire family!

If you are currently using their product line, tell us what your favorites are. If not, are you willing to give them a try? Which ones might you use? Let's discuss!

Happy Friday, Beauties!

BOHO Girls Night Look

 Top: Anthropologie (similar); Tank: Banana Republic; Shorts: Rachel Zoe via Gilt (similar);
Sandals: Target (similar); Bangles: Gift; Shades: MbyMJ; Handbag: MbyMJ

Tuesday was a busy outdoor day around here. Why? Because it didn't rain! It poured the night before, so we were unable to plant in the big garden, but McKinley worked all day with Granddaddy to plant potted flowers for our front stoop. So while they potted, I weeded. The weeds are taking over everything! I also baked up a little dessert for a Bachelorette viewing with my girlfriend later that night. A busy day!

So when it came to my final look for the evening, I went super casz. Now that it's finally warm enough to wear shorts, I immediately reached for my favorite pair! The top is a piece I've had forever! Okay, maybe four years, but in wardrobe years that's forever! I finished it off with cute sandals and wooden bangles. Nothing better than a little BOHO on a Tuesday night!

Wednesday Wants: Non Jean Pieces

Yesterday I admitted to being tired of wearing jeans. A crazy confession I know, but I am. I love them, but I'm ready to take on new styling challenges with cute pieces that are just as chic. And it turns out that Loft and J.Crew Factory have me covered! I've found pants, rompers, and dresses that would get me through summer and even into early fall. They would be great on our vacation in July and perfect for the beach later this summer. Versatile pieces that will go with tees, tanks, cardigans, and my trust denim jacket.

I've compiled a little collage of my eight favorite summery finds. Check them out!

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

What casual summer pieces are on your radar this season? I'm honestly loving every piece I found. If I had to pick, I like the striped romper and zebra print palazzo pants!

Side note, some of the pieces from Loft are on sale (under $40) and J.Crew Factory is having a big sale! You're welcome!!

A Working Girls Closet

Here are the exact contents of my main closet (yes I have two) and as you can see, it contains the pieces of one Corporate American working girl. A no longer working in Corporate American girl and I'm struggling. I'm struggling to find inspiration from my closet. I'm struggling to find daily looks that work for daily life with my son. I'm simply struggling. And it's evident in my lack of blog posts. (I also struggle with how to organize a 1960s closet that comes complete with one rod and one shelf! Seriously!!)

 My current closet consists of pencil skirts, sheath dresses, dress pants, and rows and rows of heels. A wardrobe I curated for fifteen years. One that is perfect for a day job in a cubicle environment . But now, these pieces are no longer a part of who I am. Maybe they will be one day, which I hope isn't true, but how do I part with them or incorporate them into my new daily life?

I told my husband about a week ago that I'm tired of wearing boyfriend jeans. I love them, but I'm tired of them. We're on the cusp of summer, if it would EVER STOP RAINING! And with summer comes shorts, casual dresses, and cute sandals. And bathing suits with darling cover-ups. Looks that I can't wait to start creating, sporting, blogging about, and squealing over in excitement. But until then, I can't seem to find anything to wear. Insert eye roll here...

Over the course of the next week or so, I may not be blogging about daily looks until I can find my voice again. It might be a new voice, but I know I need one. I might blog about what I want my new closet to look like. I might blog about how I am plan to clear out my existing one. I might even give a tutorial on how to really examine ones wardrobe and how to make difficult decisions when parting with its contents. One that might make me shed a tear every now and then. But I believe it's time to take a fresh look at something that's a little outdated.

Will I fill it with brand new pieces? Probably not. I'm on a budget these days and it's not one that calls for new clothing. I might pick up a piece here and there that compliments my new wardrobe, but it won't be a large shopping spree. And it doesn't need to be. It just needs to fill the requirement of cute, comfortable, functional, and chic.

If you are a faithful Style My Way reader, I hope you stick it out with me! It's going to be a fun journey. If you're new to the blog, I welcome you to the journey as well. It should make for some interesting posts, dizzying styling challenges, and a hopeful profit on Poshmark!

Stay tuned, Fashionista's!!

A small closet dream! Maybe someday!

A Few Things....

It's been cold and rainy here this week and I'm completely uninspired in the outfit department. I've had on some really cute looks, but at the end of the day, I just don't feel like taking photos. Maybe next week I'll repeat a few of them and possibly post. We shall see.

It's Friday, the kick off to a three day weekend, and we are on vacation! And instead of bringing you a Friday Beauty post, I'm just going to talk about a few of the things I'm really into these days. The first kind of has a little to do with beauty, but doesn't involve cosmetics. I'm really into Green Smoothies! I recently watched an episode of Haylie Duff's Real Girl Kitchen on the Cooking Channel and she made a green smoothie for her girlfriends as a detox from all the bad food she had recently consumed. Who doesn't need that from time to time, right? And it sounded really good! Romaine lettuce, spinach, parsley, cucumbers, green apples, bananas, and water. So I tried it and I liked it. It was a little on the salad side of taste, but I was willing to over look it for the nutrients it provided. Since then, I've modified the recipe and made it more my own flare. I'm using spinach, frozen pineapple, frozen mangos, cucumber, agave, almond milk, and ice. So good! And so good for you. I know it's working because my face (and my mom's) has been breaking out here and there. According to nutritional experts, that's all part of the detoxification. And, I've lost a few pounds here and there. All and all, a good thing in my life right now!

I'm not normally a wine drinker, I'm really more of a beer girl, but I'm really enjoying a glass with my mom on most afternoons. We drink out of tiny juice glasses around 3:00 in the afternoon and it's a simple little pleasure we've grown to enjoy. And I'm not all the picky about my wine. I do prefer a Pino Grigio, but price and reputation don't mean a thing. Lately, I've been picking my bottles soley off the label and they've been pretty good. I'm loving the Wine Sisterhood brand, especially Middle Sister! If you haven't checked them out, do. They're labels for each bottle is as cute as the next. The other one I recenlty tried is by Chloe Wine Company. The little black bow was the selling point for me. And all under $12!

Lastly, I am totally and completely into redesign and DIY projects! Just recently I purchased a vintage chair at an estate sale and I can't wait to start work on it. I've sanded it down and started taking off all the old fabric. Next steps are to paint it black and reupholster it! The fabric is gorgeous and will complement my living room. I'm also going to repaint the furniture in our bedroom this summer. It's a big task that I can't wait to tackle and share with you!

What are the things you are into these days? I would love to hear about your passions. There are so many things I have on my list to share! And so many projects to start! Here's to finding the time and drinking cute labeled wine while doing so!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

You're Not Seeing Double

 Jacket: My Mom's (similar); Top: Ann Taylor (similar); Jumpsuit: Target (similar);
Sneakers: Target (similar); Hat: Target; Shades: Karen Walker via Gilt

No, you aren't seeing double! I'm wearing the same shirt and hat from yesterday's post! And no, I'm not wearing the same thing two days in a row, though I've been known to do that, yesterday's look was from last Tuesday. I wore this yesterday and I'm not afraid to show you how often I repeat pieces! I repeat them a lot, as seen by my Before and After pics, and that's just what a good working closet should do for you, work!

McKinley and I went to the zoo yesterday and it was a little on the cool side. The windy was blustery at times and I'm so glad I brought along my trusty denim jacket! I've been wanting to pair this jumpsuit with a tee, just to see how it would look, and I have to say I love it! I'm not sure any other top would work so I may just leave it at this!

Little Accent Piece

Jacket: Rachel Zoe (similar); Top: Ann Taylor (similar); Jeans: Loft (similar);
Shoes: Toms (similar); Hat: Target; Shades: MbyMJ; Necklace: Jane Basch (gift);
Lip Color: Revlon Striking

I am so glad I discovered this eyelet moto jacket in my closet as I've worn it all spring! It's perfect on chilly mornings, or in restaurants who crank up the air this time of year, and it's just so darn cute! And a great little accent piece. I love it!

Last week McKinley and I headed to the farmstead for the first time since it opened and the morning started out cool. This jacket was the perfect choice. And even though it turned warm, the eyelet is so breathable that I didn't feel the need to take it off. I have a feeling you will see this piece a lot this season!

Team Orange Mom

Jacket: Banana Republic (similar); Top: J.Crew (similar); Jeans: Banana Republic (similar);
Sandals: Rachel Zoe; Necklaces: The Zoe Collective/Stella & Dot/J.Crew;
Shades: Prada; Lip Color: NARS Heat Wave

Yesterday was a big day! We worked in the garden all morning, had haircuts in the afternoon, more gardening for McKinley with Granddaddy while I was pampered at the salon, and then McKinley's first day of Blast Ball that evening. Long day that was so much fun!

McKinley's Blast Ball team is Team Orange so I had to wear some sort of orange to his first practice. I'm a total "stage mom" on things like that! I threw on my favorite summer leather jacket, my beloved boyfriend jeans, and my new favorite sandals and I was out the door for the day. A long day.....

What do you think of the new do? I am so happy with out it all turned out!

The Top: Before and After

These new sandals are amazing! I got them during the friends and family sale from Shopbop and I've been living in them over the past week! I would have taken photos sooner, but every afternoon has been nothing but rain around here! Sandals in the morning. Hunters in the afternoon. Time to move onto better weather!

Wednesday Wants: White Jeans

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of white jeans for about two years now. You would think white jeans would be a no brainer to find, but I am here to tell you, that's not the case. I don't want skinny, cropped, or capri. I want boyfriend with a little distress and a slight loose fit. So hard to find! And harder to find within in my price range. I've been stopping in every store, browsing the racks, and then walking back out. I can't find them!

Then, miraculously, I found these five options! None of them fit every single criteria on my list, but they check off at least two. Better than none, right? What do you think of these?

I think I am going to go with pair number one from Gap. And bonus, they're on sale! Can't beat that, right? Which ones would you purchase?

Hope you're week is fabulous so far!

Mother's Day Lunch Date

Blazer: Zara (similar); Top: Ann Taylor (similar); Pants: JCPenney (similar);
Sandals: Coclico; Necklaces: The Zoe Collective/Stella & Dot/BaubleBar (similar);
Handbag: MbyMJ; Lip Color: MAC Girl About Town

On Friday, my mom, McKinley and I headed to the mall. Specifically, Nordstrom's Cafe for lunch to kick off Mother's Day weekend. It was so sweet. The night before, McKinley called my mom to invite her to lunch. He told her where we were going, asked if she could drive, and that if she could pick us up a 5:31. Five, three, one was the exact time he told her. So cute!!

I really wanted to be comfortable, chic, and colorful since all it's done is rain. For days it has rained! I thought this look brought out a cheerful color palette and so did the handful of other women who complimented the look. At least a handful of girls stopped to tell me how much they loved my pants! I think paired with the hot pink blazer, it gave them a more spring-like feel. I have a few other ideas on how to style these pants and can't wait to share them!
